How to Choose a Career?

Choosing a Career path can be overwhelming! What major do I need? Am I going to make enough money to support a family? Is this something that I really want to do for the next 50 YEARS? Questions like these can be daunting and even cause some people to enter into hyperventilation mode. Let's face it, not all of us have known what we have wanted to do with our life since we were five. One day we wanted to be an astronaut, the next a marine biologist. We have seen the options of the world and feel overwhelmed.

Or some of us, see an office and cringe! But at the same time, we don't want to spend the rest of our lives being a waiter.

We at the Career Center can help you, no matter what the reason is for not knowing what you want to do with you life.

How can we help you, you ask? We can counsel you through the process, but the first thing you need to do, is step in our office.

What is Career Counseling? Career Counseling is a process of evaluating possible career choices using assessments and observations.

Once in we will set you up with the MBTI (Myers-Brigg Type Indicator), which is a personality assessment. This will help point out how you learn, what you are interested in, and even give you a short list of possible career choices that you might be interested in.

After you take the MBTI, we will have one of our Career Counselors work with you on choosing a major, which will hopefully lead to your dream career.

For more information on Career Counseling and the MBTI, please contact the office at (501) 279-4454 or visit us in Student Center 239.
